Our mission
Marom is a new national graduate school of education, created to prepare the finest teachers and school leaders in America. We begin with a clear focus on Jewish day schools, which are growing across the country and urgently need great teachers to meet that demand.
What we believe
Jewish day schools across America are struggling to find great teachers, and the number of schools searching for a new head of school is at an all-time high.
The schools are ready to grow. What they need are teachers. Marom exists to recruit talented people into teaching, give them an education worthy of the work, and send them into classrooms across the country.
Marom is built on five foundational beliefs:
-
Excellence
Human excellence and civic responsibility depend on giving young people foundational knowledge in reading, writing, math, science, and history.
-
Patriotism
American civilization is an exceptional gift, rooted in human liberty, meritocracy, limited government, and an epic story of hope and strength in the face of history's greatest trials.
-
Historical
Western civilization is a majestic inheritance, and all students should know the great books, great leaders, and great ideas at the heart of our culture.
-
Jewish
Jewish civilization is one of the great pillars of the Western world, and the Jewish people have a unique contribution to make to the American project.
-
Heroic
Teaching is a heroic calling, and great educators are indispensable to building a strong culture and a strong republic.
What we do
Marom will launch in September 2027 with the Marom Miami Fellowship, a three-year program for college seniors and recent graduates. Over time, Marom will offer a full range of programs:
- A BA Fellowship for undergraduates considering a career in teaching.
- Hybrid master’s degrees for career switchers and working teachers.
- Certificates for educators who want advanced training without a full degree.
- A Head of School Accelerator for future school leaders.
- Marom also hosts the annual Marom Conference for school leaders and Teacher Colloquia at universities across the country. Through Lobel Press, it publishes curriculum now used in more than 50 Jewish day schools.
- At full scale, Marom will train hundreds of educators each year for Jewish schools nationwide.
Beginning in Miami
Marom’s home and first campus will be in Miami, one of the most vibrant Jewish communities in America and home to some of the country’s strongest Jewish day schools. Fellows will spend their first year studying there in person. They will then teach in partner schools across the country, and Marom’s hybrid programs, conferences, and colloquia will reach educators wherever they work.
Our name
Marom means "heights" in Hebrew.
It reflects what we ask of our students and what we hope to help them reach: the highest standard of teaching, scholarship, and service to the Jewish people.
